THE LINE THAT PUTS JEREZ ON THE GLOBAL ILLUSTRATION MAP
From Jerez, Daniel Diosdado emerges as one of the most dynamic and versatile illustrators on the Spanish scene. With deep Andalusian roots, he studied traditional techniques at the University of Seville and completed his degree at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, driven by the need to broaden his horizons in illustration and graphic design. From a very young age he was drawn to pencils, colours and textures —elements that shaped him into the artist he is today.
His work is defined by meticulous composition, an elegant colour palette and a use of textures that gives each image physicality and presence. Diosdado does not stay within a single discipline: from posters and branding to comics (he published Voy Tirando after winning the Desencaja competition) and mural art, versatility is his hallmark.
Throughout his career he has collaborated with major international media outlets and brands, including The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal and El País, as well as local institutions such as the Jerez Flamenco Festival. His work has been recognised by the Association of Professional Illustrators (APIM), where he won an award in the general category.
Diosdado’s philosophy rests on the balance between the local and the global. Every project carries a piece of his homeland, yet his vision is contemporary and boundary-transcending. His work goes beyond the decorative: it seeks to connect with the viewer, spark reflection, provoke a knowing smile or ignite a small spark of curiosity.
