THE ART OF TITLES AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS
If the "opening" of a series doesn't make your skin crawl, it's because it's not doing its job... Westworld, Big Little Lies or Snowfall are the proof that the emotion starts when you press play and Filipe Carvalho is responsible for it. He made such a good impression the first time we had him at OFFF Seville that we wanted to repeat. Filipe's main titles are like a guided meditation that prepares our minds to dive into the narrative world we are about to see.
The Portuguese artist makes Emmy Award-winning main titles ("Counterpart," from Starz) and develops "prologues" that become trademarks of TV series, documentaries and films. He started his career as a freelance graphic designer working for US studios, until he made the leap to TV, working for digital platforms such as HBO, Netflix or FOX, from his headquarters in Lisbon to all over the world. Currently, he also runs the studio Foreign Affairs where he continues to imbue his imprint on projects such as the HBO documentary "Hostages" with its polished and delicate aesthetics.
