Variables of a Self: Portrait and identity with generative AI

Discover how to maintain a portrait's identity while transforming its style, era, or mood using generative AI to create your own cohesive visual series.

November. Thursday 26th

Variable-of-a-self-JOHWSKA-03

Learn how to generate variations of the same person while maintaining their recognizable identity. Based on the logic of the Variables of a Self project, we will explore how to write precise prompts to change the style, context, era, or mood of a portrait, keeping control over what is preserved and what is transformed to build a cohesive visual series.

A workshop focused on exploration and process rather than the final output, designed to break down the AI barrier without needing any prior experience.

What will you learn?

Character consistency: How to maintain facial identity across different iterations.
Prompt control: Techniques to modify style, lighting, context, or era without losing the essence of the portrait.
Series creation: How to go from standalone images to a visual collection with narrative and aesthetic unity.
Transition to video: Methodology and workflow to transform your static creations into moving pieces.

What will you take home?

Your own graphic material generated during the session.
A comprehensive tutorial to convert your images into a video piece at your own pace after the workshop.

Practical information and requirements

No prior experience required.
Bring a digital portrait (of yourself or someone of your choice) to work on during the session.
